The mission of our recycling program is to provide customers with a convenient, safe and transparent way to properly dispose of unwanted/broken jewelry.
The Recycling Program is free of charge to submit items! Please note, if pieces are brought to us and evaluated by our team but credit is not accepted on at least one item submitted, a $25 processing fee will be charged upon item pick up.
This is not a "cash for gold/silver" initiative. Any accepted items will be eligible for a shopping credit that can be used online or in-store.
Complete the following steps:
1. Choose Your Items:
Accepted Items:
Solid gold (10k, 14k, 18k, 22k, 24k)
Sterling silver, including vermeil
Authentic gemstones (diamonds, sapphires, moissanites, opals, aquamarine, etc.)
Non-Accepted Items:
Titanium, platinum, stainless steel.
Cracked or damaged gemstones.
Swarovski crystal and imitation gemstones.
Gold plate or gold fill items can be recycled but are not eligible for perks.
If items are sent to us that are not eligible for our recycling program, you will have the option to get those items back, or we can donate them if you choose not to have them returned.

3. Secure Items:
Place the form and the items you want to be recycled (make sure the items are secure and not loose in the package) into a package.

5. Quality Verification:
Once your package has been received, you will receive an email letting you know your items arrived safely. All items will undergo a quality verification by our trained staff. If they meet our requirements, you'll receive a store credit to our shop in exchange for your item. The higher the quality and weight of the items, the higher the credit.
By sending in any items, you are consenting to the testing process. To determine if metal is solid, it will need to be sanded or scratched on the surface.
Lead Time: Please allow 2-4 weeks for your items to undergo quality verification.
6. Get Your Store Credit:
Once quality verification has been completed, you will receive an email letting you know how much store credit you've earned.
7. You're All Done!
Accepted items will be melted down, turned into new products & will help reduce waste in the fine jewelry industry.
Non-Accepted items can either be returned to you or we will do our best to find a purpose for them. Please note which you would prefer on the Jewelry Recycling Program Form.
FAQ:
Why aren't plated or fill items eligible for perks?
Lackadazee does not have the capability to recycle plated or filled items. For this reason, we will accept these items for our recycling program only for your convenience. These items cannot be used by Lackadazee and will be sent to a third party program to be properly recycled.
If my items do not meet the Recycling Program requirements or I change my mind, can I get my items back?
Absolutely! Once your items have been received and processed, you will receive an email letting you know if your items met our requirements and how much store credit you are eligible to receive. Please note, If you would like your items back you are responsible for shipping & handling on returns.
Plating vs. Gold-Fill vs. Vermeil
You can buy gold in four common forms; plate(sometimes marked 10kPLAT), fill(14k 1/20), vermeil(Heavy plating of gold over silver) or solid(10-22k)
Plating is when a thin layer of gold is imposed onto an inexpensive base metal using a process called electroplating. Eventually this thin layer of gold will wear off, leaving you with whatever metal is underneath. Often gold plated pieces have an inexpensive base metal like brass, copper, nickel, or silver.
Gold-fill is when a thick layer of gold is imposed on an inexpensive base metal core by a machine. Gold-fill is marketed as an affordable alternative to solid gold. One issue with gold-fill is it does not hold the same value as solid gold. Though it may take years or even decades, the top layer of gold will eventually rub off, leaving you with whatever the core metal was in the jewelry. Our recommended alternative to gold plating or gold-fill is vermeil.
Vermeil is the process of electroplating a layer of 10k-24k gold onto sterling silver. After the gold eventually weathers away, you will be left with a beautiful piece of wearable, sterling silver jewelry.
Solid gold is gold thru and thru. It can be melted down, reused, recycled and retains its karat value. You can differentiate solid gold from other types of gold by identifying the markings or stamps that can be found on the piece.
